Anthropic temporary 50% bump to Claude Code weekly usage limits expires at 11:59 PM PT on August 19, 2026. The subscription price does not change, but the weekly allowance returns to its pre-promotion level. Heavy users will see their weekly ceiling lower without any change to what they pay.

This is the fourth deadline Anthropic has set for the promotion since introducing it in May 2026. Previous extensions were communicated through support-center updates and posts on X rather than a formal announcement, and there is no indication yet of a fifth extension.

Who is most affected

Occasional Claude Code users will not notice. Anyone running Claude Code continuously, in CI pipelines, or against large repository migrations will. The temporary bump was the difference between finishing the week and hitting a wall on Wednesday for some heavy users.

DevOps teams that built automation around the extra room are the most exposed. A sprint plan or pipeline that assumed the larger weekly cap needs to be re-budgeted against the regular cap starting tomorrow.

• Likely unaffected: occasional users, small personal projects, teams that already stayed well below the cap.
• Likely affected: developers running Claude Code for several hours per workday, teams using Claude Code in CI, anyone whose weekly meter has been steadily climbing.

How to plan capacity like any other finite compute resource

Treat the weekly allowance the way you would a cloud-spend budget. Track the running total through Claude Code usage meter, front-load the token-heavy refactors and large migrations while headroom exists, and have a fallback model or coding tool reserved for the day the cap becomes the bottleneck.

Anthropic has adjusted Claude Code limits five times in the past fifteen months. Each adjustment has favored the company cost structure over the subscriber planning certainty, so the durable move is to assume the ceiling can move again and design workflows that adapt rather than assume a specific number stays fixed.
